Hey, I'm Guy 👋
and I'm the founder of tradienet.
I’ve always enjoyed taking on challenges that involve building things, whether it's a bathroom cupboard, a supportive team, or a business that helps tradies grow.
My journey as an entrepreneur began in 2009 when I launched my first ecommerce business using the same software we use for tradienet. today. It’s been a long journey filled with ups and downs, and I've loved every minute of it. This experience has helped me explore different areas of business and discover my true passions.
Being "more social than most," (according to my parter) I’ve always had a passion for sales and marketing. I enjoy building relationships and helping people who need support.
After running my own businesses for 13 years, I joined Shopify in 2019. I found it rewarding to learn how people across various industries run their businesses and to offer advice to help them succeed. However, after two years, I started feeling burnt out.
The pressure of COVID changed my role significantly. Conversations shifted from helping merchants grow to helping them save their businesses, and I found it challenging to see the results of my advice due to limited interactions.
So, I decided to leave and became a Shopify Partner to build tradienet.—a brand, marketing, and sales agency for tradies. This allows me to be creative, do what I love, and help the people I care about most. The best part? We can measure and celebrate the impact we make 🎉
At tradienet. our core services are branding, marketing, and sales software. These are the areas I’m most passionate about and where I can make the biggest difference. I chose to specialise in tradies and service providers because my family and network include many of them, giving us early wins. Plus, I can offer significant value in this industry with the tools we create.
Once we identified our market and confirmed the demand, we set sail in 2019 and built the tradienet. we have today!

The Big 8 Questions your brand needs to answer:
As great as our sales and proposal pipeline and automations are, you won’t win high-paying jobs by showing up to a meeting without a uniform and in a beat-up truck with no signage. Especially if your competition is presenting themselves well. That’s why you may first need to focus on your brand and answer these 8 big questions to build the trust and authority required to sell high-ticket services before we can partner effectively on your sales and proposal process.
The First 3
Authority Questions:
All addressed BEFORE your in-person Quote Meeting:
1 ) Who are you personally and why did you become a tradie?
2 ) Why does your business exist/what are your company values and beliefs?
3 ) Can I trust you’re as good as you say you are?
The 4th
Authority Question:
Addressed BEFORE your in-person Quote Meeting.
4 ) How specifically can you help me?
This is the final authority question that needs to be completed, which can be done by answering the following sub-questions. Your leads may not even be aware of these, but once answered, they will provide peace of mind and confidence in your ability to deliver on your promises:
a) Do you have a logo, what is it?
b) What are the brands colours?
c) Do you have a branded work vehicle in good condition?
d) Do your employees and sub-contractors wear clean and up to date work uniform?
e) Who else like me have you worked with in the past? ie. Who is your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP).
f) What services do you specialise in and would consider yourself an expert?
g) What makes you different to your competition?
h) What offer are you currently running that may make me want to act now? eg. “Half price off quotes to your budget”
i) What Guarantees do I have that show you’ll do what you say you can?
j) What is your service location?
k) What is your price point?
The Last 4
Main Project Concerns:
All addressed AFTER your in-person Quote Meeting.
These are the 4 concerns each new lead has about their specific project once you as a business and brand have been selected progress with them beyond the authority questions above. Each category for concern has a group of sub-questions that need to be answered to build confidence with your lead that you’re the right service provider for their unique project.
1 ) Project Scope:
a) Do you understand exactly what they need done?
b) Do you understand WHY they are wanting it done?
2 ) Project Timeline:
a) Are you on the same page regarding a start date?
b) How long is the project going to take?
c) What assurance do I get that the project will be completed on time? - use your guarantee.
3 ) Project Budget:
a) How much is everything going to cost?
b) Will they have access to the funds at the expected start date?
c) Will there be any hidden costs?
4 ) Communication Channels:
a) How will you communicate with each other throughout their project?
b) What channels will you use?
c) How accessible will you be?
d) Are you available 7 days a week?
e) What hours of your work day are you available?
This is not just communicated and displayed throughout your online presence and in your “Intro pack,” but most importantly experienced first hand throughout your proposal process and with help from your tradienet. sales rep. In the case of communication, actions speak louder than words.

Onboarding Step 4:
Build Proposal Pipeline:
Tasks Completed in Onboarding Step 4:
1 ) 💳 Setup your Recurring Billing.
2 ) 🪣 Build your Proposal Pipeline.
3 ) 🙋 Assign your Sales Rep.
4 ) 📚 Provide Guidance and Training.
1 ) 💳 Setup your Recurring Billing:
Price for Onboarding Step 4:
First of your recurring monthly bill: $1,500 NZD + GST*
(GST Excluded for all Australian based merchants)
*Please note: The price displayed above represents our tradienet. Marketing Plan 1 which includes running your Meta Ads for you and the use of our sales and proposal pipeline software. This price excludes your additional $1000/month ad spend which is setup by us and paid for by you directly to Meta at their associating billing thresholds. Depending on your advertising budget, we may recommend one of our higher marketing plans. To find out more on how Meta charges you for your ads, please click here.
2 ) 🪣 Build your Chosen Pipeline:
Step 4 of Onboarding usually takes the first month of your subscription to set up. Within this month we’ll build your selected proposal pipeline, which will include all your branded workflows and automations.
This will connect automated emails, forms, calendars and more to create a streamlined proposal process. Together, you and your lead will navigate this process, addressing all their important questions and building trust and authority to convert them into high-paying customers. Once complete, well move onto the following steps of onboarding.
3 ) 🙋 Assign your Sales Rep:
As part of our Proposal Process, we conduct an initial call with your new leads on your behalf to filter out tire kickers and qualify them at a basic level. During this call, your designated sales representative will gather and document key information, including the lead's budget, project scope, expected timeline, and location.
Once qualified, we’ll schedule a follow-up call for the high-quality leads with you. This process not only keeps unqualified leads at a distance, allowing you to focus on serious prospects, but also enables our trained sales reps to discuss topics like ballpark budgets while positively representing your business and brand. After the call, you’ll receive all the discussed information before your first call.
4 ) 📚 Guidance and Training:
Our Pipeline Processes may be a bit different from what you’re used to, which is why we're here to assist you. Each of our automated processes is pre-designed with marketing and sales principles to build trust and establish authority with quality-focused leads. They are also straightforward and well-guided for our tradies to follow. However, we understand there’s a sales element involved, and we’re here to coach you through it.

This makes sure as many new leads as possible are nurtured, tracked, and converted into high-paying customers.
You will also be added to our tradie monthly meeting workflow which we schedule with yourself, your development manager and your designated sales rep to discuss ideas, reports and results that can be directly attributed to your sales and proposal process.
WHY
The tradienet. Brand Pyramid:
At tradienet. we believe that in order for us to build you a great website, ad campaign or automated proposal process we first need to understand your business. After all, how can we tell your potential customers what sets you apart from your competition if we don't know this ourselves? So before we get to work attracting and converting new high paying clients, we first take each business through the Discovery phase where we sit down and build them their very own "Brand Pyramid" or Minimum Viable Brand (MVB) document.
